Directory of Women's Periodicals in Asia and the Pacific* was produced by the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) through the Women's Information Network for Asia and the Pacific (WINAP) to promote information exchange among women's organizations in the region. The directory responds to recommendations of the Beijing Platform for Action adopted at the Fourth World Conference on Women in 1995 concerning the strengthening of women's media networks and information dissemination. It provides bibliographic and contact information for 217 English-language women's periodicals published by organizations in 21 countries and territories of Asia and the Pacific. Each entry includes the title, publisher, address, year of establishment, frequency of publication, location in resource centres, and relevant notes. The publication serves as a networking and resource tool to facilitate communication, information sharing, research, and cooperation among women's organizations, information centres, and development institutions throughout the region
