Empower Women and Advance Gender Equality
The Asia-Pacific Portal for Gender Equality is an open-access information platform developed by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). It supports governments and other stakeholders across Asia and the Pacific in their efforts to advance gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls.
The Portal brings together interactive data, country-level information, regional analyses, policy resources and knowledge products to support research, analysis and evidence-informed decision-making. It enables users to examine progress towards Sustainable Development Goal 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls, while highlighting the crucial role of gender equality and gender mainstreaming in achieving all the Sustainable Development Goals.
About Us
At ESCAP, we work with governments and partners across Asia and the Pacific to advance gender equality, strengthen women’s economic empowerment and promote gender-responsive policies and institutions. The Asia-Pacific Gender Portal is the place to explore this work and understand how gender equality is being advanced across the region.
The Portal for Gender Equality serves as an interactive tool to examine regional, subregional and country progress on SDG 5 and advance the integration of gender mainstreaming across all government actions, strategies, plans and decisions. It highlights key achievements in realizing gender equality and the major challenges women, girls, gender minorities, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups continue to experience in the region.
