ESCAP has launched a regional initiative “Climate Resilient and Inclusive Social Protection” (CRISP). This initiative aims to build a regional knowledge base on policies, strategies and tools that support the integration of social protection with climate adaptation and climate mitigation policies, helping countries build resilience against climate change events. By advancing climate-resilient social protection, CRISP contributes to safeguarding livelihoods, reducing vulnerabilities, and promoting inclusive and sustainable development across the Asia-Pacific region.

The initial consultation workshop on CRISP will be held from 10.00 to 12.00 hrs. on 25 August 2026 at UNCC. The workshop aims to introduce the CRISP initiative, the regional conceptual framework, and the rationale for integrating climate change and social protection in the Thailand context. It will present the scope, approach, and four analytical components of the planned country study and discuss how the relative emphasis of each component will be tailored to Thailand. The meeting will also provide an opportunity to gather inputs from government agencies on national priorities, ongoing initiatives, available data, and potential key informants, with particular attention to informal workers and women as cross-cutting priorities. Finally, it will confirm roles, coordination arrangements, and the next steps for the assignment, including the sequencing of subsequent workshops and national consultations.
