CSD9 Side event: Where Care Meets Enterprise: Local Innovations Shaping the Future of Care

banner

Organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and Oxfam, Pilipinas

Care-related enterprises and care-responsive business models can help expand access to quality care services and strengthen economic resilience. Across the region, businesses and community-based initiatives are already developing new ways to provide care, reduce unpaid care and domestic work, and help people balance paid work with caregiving responsibilities.

ESCAP and Oxfam's regional small grants programme supports women entrepreneurs and other local actors to develop and test innovative solutions in the digital, green and care economies. The programme also captures practical experience and evidence on what works, including common challenges, promising practices and approaches that can contribute to gender-responsive care systems.

This side event will serve as a regional forum to exchange knowledge and good practices on supporting women’s entrepreneurship across the digital, green and care economies. The event will bring together grant recipients, entrepreneurs, policymakers and other stakeholders to share emerging insights, identify actionable recommendations and discuss models that can be adapted and scaled in other contexts. It will also support adaptive learning by bringing lessons from implementation into regional policy discussions and helping inform future approaches as needs and conditions evolve.
