The Asia-Pacific Policy Dialogue on “Women’s Economic Empowerment in the Changing World of Work” (forthwith “Policy Dialogue”), was held on the 23rd and 24th of February 2017 at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok. It was jointly organized by the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN-Women) and the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) with the technical support and collaboration of the Thematic Working Group on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (TGW-GEEW). The Policy Dialogue saw participation from high-level representatives from Ministries responsible for the advancement of gender equality and Ministries of Labour from 16 countries, along with experts and practitioners from the private sector, academia, trade unions, civil society organizations, intergovernmental organizations and the United Nations. The recommendations made by participants at the meeting were intended to inform the sixty-first session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW61) in New York in March 2017, for which the priority theme was “women’s economic empowerment in the changing world of work”.
