Sri Lanka recently expanded its commitment to human rights by ratifying the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Expanding the Government’s commitment to human rights further, it has been decided to formulate a National Human Rights Action Plan (NHRAP) for 2017-2021. Prepared in consultation with a broad range of stakeholders including those in government, independent institutions including the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka and the Election Commission, civil society actors and the general public, the plan envisions Sri Lanka’s vision for human rights during the next five years.
